Halloween 2018

Halloween festiveness!!

Quinn chose to be a cat this year, because she is crazy about kitties!  She found the ears at Walmart a couple months ago and *knew* they were the thing for her costume this year!  We already had the tail from her 6th Cheetah birthday party, so she wanted to use that.  She also wore our sweet Alie-girl's collar.  And she was super-pumped about the face paint!!

And Beck ADORES ketchup.  He even has a shirt that Grandsue got him that says, "I put ketchup on my ketchup."  He prides himself on eating ketchup on food that grosses the rest of us (particularly his sister) out, such as apples and watermelon.
I made his little label out of a piece of fleece and some sharpees.  Here he is (in the last picture) "drinking a whole bottle of ketchup."

Our 7 year old!

Beck,
You continue to be the sweetest boy ever.  You love snuggling in the morning with Mama.  You love ANYTHING that has to do with Dad, and helping him with any type of project.  You take care of dead critters and birds and bugs like a man (thanks for that!).  You adore building with legos and always want to build your own designs and not really the plans that come with the kits.  You still make car noises and plane noises like crazy.  You still put your shirt on backwards an alarming amount of the time (more than 50%, how does that work?).  You love all our animals, but only Texy really loves you back.  You prefer eating pancakes, waffles, french toast, yogurt, and quesadillas, and everything else is meh to you.  You like to bake with Mama.  You are getting good at drawing airplanes!  It breaks your heart when Quinn is upset or hurt and you will do anything for her at that point.  Your hair is ridiculous and always a mess.  You are super forgetful and a little airheaded at times when it comes to remembering stuff.  You love your French class and anything to do with guns.  We all just love you to pieces and had fun making your birthday memorable.

Beck's Birthday Beach Trip!

We celebrated our boy with the gift of a beach day!!

 Catching crabs!

 Fishing!
 Paddling!

Beck's 7th Birthday Party

We always anxiously await what Beck comes up with for his birthday theme each year....This year it was science, and specifically, chemistry!  He's been very into experiments and chemicals and all things science for a while now, so it was a perfect choice!  He also wanted a pool involved, so our sweet friends offered to let us have the party in their backyard and use their pool.

He also requested cinnamon rolls for his "cake."  The kids and I made homemade cinnamon rolls and we used frosting to write the elements to make a "cinnamon roll periodic table" for his little family party!

As always, Daddy came through with a pinata!  He made Beck a super-cool Erlenmeyer flask pinata!

We found the perfect shirt for him to wear to his party!  And yes, he can explain the equation if you ask him!

We stretch out the "making" for our parties for a couple weeks and the kids help with (most) everything.  As Quinn likes to say about me, "Mom has to make EVERYTHING into a learning experience."  Parties are no exception.  ;)
Beck requested hotdogs and a huge watermelon and chips for the meal!  And rootbeer!!

Lovebug and Daddy (The Amazing Dr.'s Matt) put on a science show with awesome experiments!  All the kids were totally captivated!

For decorations we used mostly everything we already had...frames from my house with "sciency" photos of Beck in them, some of Beck's science books, tablecloths from my stash....

Matt and I made a periodic table backdrop.  I printed out elements to make "Beck is 7" using elements.

It was a fun night celebrating our sciency boy!!!
