McCook crimefighting

Well, Quinn had her first visit to jail today.....
We went to Walmart this morning (pretty much the only thing in this town of 8,000) to check out the deals. As we were leaving, we saw a guy in the parking lot drag his wife from the car, throw her to the ground, and start kicking her in the ribs, all while cursing her out. Mom yelled at him to stop, so he started cursing at us and telling us he could beat whomever he wanted and he told Mom he would come beat her. So I got Mom's cell phone and called the cops, and Chelsea ran into Walmart to see if they had any security. We chased the guy all over the parking lot and the cops finally got there. Then they called us on Mom's phone at lunch and we had to go into the police station and file a statement so they could arrest him.....So we had quite a busy little morning in Nebraska!!

Enjoying Thanksgiving......

Today Quinn was thankful for lots of Grandparents! We went to visit her Great-Great Grandma Buhler who is 95 years old at her retirement home. She was very excited to meet Quinn, who is her third Great-Great Grandchild. Quinn also got some cuddles from Great-Grandaddy and Lil, who read her a story. Then Opa gave her lots of horsey rides on some bumpy roads. We knew she liked it because she fussed when he stopped, but she had the widest eyes the whole time he was jiggling her. She also hung out with Opa and read some magazines on the lounge chairs at the pool while Oma and I hottubbed tonight.

Traveling....

We have made it to Nebraska....Quinn survived a total of 18+ hours in her carseat and 1000 miles. As you can see, she wasn't always the happiest camper in the world, and there is actually a REAL tear in her eye. She did keep it together until the last few minutes of traveling each of the two days, which I was pretty thankful for! We had a good trip up here with no problems other than horrifying some old ladies at a Wendy's in Kansas because I was changing Q's diaper on the trunk of the Taurus.
We stayed Tuesday night in OKC and were able to get together with some of my favorite friends in the whole world (minus Leo, who we'll see on Saturday) and catch up, which was terrific!

Meeting Babushka

On Monday we visited my friend Nataly and met her mom, who is visiting from Russia. Babushka brought Quinn a little toy from Russia that is so cute. She also brought Vlada, her granddaughter, a hat made of rabbit fur, and we had to try it on Quinn....she didn't quite know what to think, as you can see from her eyes in the picture!

Eleven Weeks!

You are eleven weeks tomorrow, little Q! Today you chilled on the bed while I packed us up again. We leave for a loooong drive to Nebraska tomorrow morning. No huge changes since last week. You are doing better at keeping your paci in your mouth, you are talking more and more, and you are sucking those fists like crazy. You like to grab ahold of my necklace while I am nursing you. Daddy was speaking Spanish to you last night and you loved it! You kicked and giggled and smiled up a storm. Maybe you're gonna be bilingual. :) Today I got out some cute rattles Miss Jill gave you. You loved looking at them when I crinkled and shook them, but you don't quite have the grasp down on your own yet. I am noticing your motor skills getting finer every week, so I know it will be no time until you're holding those veggies!

She loves her daddy!

Well the score in our house is Daddy 4-Quinn 0 this weekend. He outlasted two crying fits on Friday and one yesterday night...He also got her to take a bottle last night. She was doing really well at taking a bottle for a long time, and then we hadn't given her one for a while and also not the week I was in Wyoming, so when we tried again this week, she was having none of that. She screamed and refused to latch on. We would finally give up every night after too much screaming and I would just nurse her. Last night Matt was so patient with her and worked and worked with her fussy self and finally got her to drink most of a bottle! Yeaaaaa! We will see how tonight goes....I really need her to be able to take one so I can leave her for longer than a couple of hours.
I was not feeling great this weekend. Nothing to put a finger on, just kinda headachy and really tired, probably my sinuses. Anyhow, Matt took Q duty so I could get some extra sleep, and Quinn loved some time to cuddle with her daddy!

Strollin' Gals

I think we're starting a collection of these photos....Quinn and her buddy A taking a stroll in the park today. I am glad they get along so well, because I am pretty fond of A's mama....so that means we can have lots of park days together!

Her Daddy's in love with those eyelashes...

Ouch!

Little Miss Freddy Kreuger earned herself a nail trimming today after she got a little crazy and gave herself three nice gashes on her face. Don't worry, though, her daddy and I have given them plenty of kisses, so they should be healing nicely soon.

Whoa, what's this?

Quinn grabbed her first object today (excluding my hair and the skin on my neck....) She was laying across my lap and I looked down and both of her socks were off her feet and one was in her hand! I have tried to get her to hold rattles and grab for objects dangled above her head, but no interest so far, so I was surprised to see her holding the sock!
She is getting to be so much fun because her little personality is coming out more and more every day. She talks and coos so much when I have "conversations" with her, and whenever I put her carseat in the Taurus when she's awake, I tell her she has to give me a smile before we can go, and she gets a big grin on her face. She will almost always stare at illustrations in books when we read to her and she looks transfixed by all the colors. She is staying awake longer times now, and I love holding her on my lap and just talking and playing with her!

Showing off the stripes

Quinn had her 2 month well-exam today. She weighed in at 13.06 lbs (91st %) and was 24 inches long (94th %). Her head was in the 56th %. Everything else looked good....the doctor noticed a bit of diaper rash and told us to put cream under all her wrinkles on her chubby thighs. Then she had to get 3 vaccines and an oral vaccine. She was not at all happy about that and was kicking and fighting the whole time, but she calmed down right away when I nursed her. After the doctor visit we met our friends at the park for lunch and some playtime for the big girls. Quinn just watched from my lap and enjoyed the sunshine.....she was sleepy the rest of the day, but she did wake up for an afternoon playtime and had lots of smiles and talking for Alie and I. We had dinner with Papa John and Mimi and Quinn also had some smiles for them.
Tonight was really exciting because Quinn got to meet her new just-born friends, Rachel and Elizabeth! She just looked on from her carseat, but Matt and I got some cuddles from the girls. Matt held Elizabeth and I held Rachel and we all agree they are just beautiful. So tiny and sweet and they have the prettiest little faces. Quinn can't wait until they are big enough to roll around on the floor with her and play! They were definitely the tiniest babies I have ever held and we are so excited to watch them grow! One of my favorite song lyrics is from a Caedmon's Call song called Love Keeps Growing More Love and I used a line from it on Quinn's baby announcement--"our vows, they started breathin', and they took on flesh and blood, and we held them in our arms and taste that God is good." I couldn't help but hear those words as we held two precious babies. I was thinking about all the prayers that have been said on behalf of them....and to see both of them well over 5 lbs...to watch them wiggling and hear their cries, I couldn't help but know....no, TASTE... that God is good.

All unpacked....

Well, we recovered from our travels! Yesterday Quinn and I slept in and then spent the day cleaning and unpacking...She chilled in the suitcase while I put stuff away, and then sat on the bed when she got bored of the suitcase. We were supposed to leave Wy at 7:45 Monday morning....so....woke up Momma, dressed Momma, woke up baby, fed baby, changed baby, dressed baby, loaded suitcases, rode to airport, unloaded suitcases, checked suitcase at the counter, took off shoes, took off coat, took off backpack, took off diaperbag, took baby out of carseat, took carseat off of stroller, took blanket off of baby....put ALL of the above on the conveyor to go through x-ray...got to the other side, put it all back together/on....sat down and watched them load our suitcase on the plane, were ready to board...and they came wheeling back the stroller and carseat....we had gotten bumped because the flight was overbooked.....so we went back home and waited until 4 and did it all again. Argh.....We got into Houston late Monday night. Needless to say Great Lakes Airlines are NOt my favorite airline...they did the same thing to me last time I went home in July......
Anyhow, the suitcase is unpacked for a week, until we leave for Nebraska on Tuesday. Miss Q is getting quite a few miles under her little belt in the month of November!!
