ZBB

Last night we met friends for the Zac Brown Band concert. It was crazy fun! We brought a ton of blankets, hot chocolate, cookies, Big K lemon lime soda (not to be confused with Sprite, right Joey?), chocolate pretzels, popcorn.....The babies sported jammies and hoodies. Quinn decided she'd photograph the event, so we have lots of pictures of her thumb over the lens, several of people's feet or tops of their head, and a few good ones scattered in there. The boys were good sports about putting on a show for her to photograph. :)

The girls! Quinn was super excited about the concert as she knows a lot of ZBB stuff. She did some dancing, some spinning, some people-watching, antagonized the daddies, and just plain enjoyed herself and being up WAY past her bedtime.

Trent came from a golf game and was a little underdressed for the weather, though he of course wouldn't admit that. :)

Quinn waited all night for her favorite ZBB song--chicken fried. We danced like crazy, especially when Zac did some pickin'. Q loves her some pickin'! But not slow pickin', just "fast pickin'" as she will tell you if you ask!
All these photos were taken on a mixture of camera photos and Q using my point and shoot, so they're a little sketchy, but they documented our fun evening just fine!

Halloween take 1

Quinn informed us she wanted to be a lobster for Halloween after an August trip to Red Lobster restaurant when my parents were here and she got to hold a lobster from the tank.
So....we made her a lobster!

I always use sweatsuits for her costumes cause they are comfy and easy. I got this hoodie and pants for $4 at Once Upon a Child (resale shop). I already had the hat and the red felt that I sewed pinchers and a tail out of. Matt made her eyes out of pipe cleaners and ping pong balls.

We call Beck our little barracuda since he eats like one. He mostly just looks like a fish, but that's okay. My only goal was for him not to get called a mermaid. :) I sewed his costume out of blue felt. All of this about an hour before our church halloween party tonight. Nothing like waiting till the last minute!

Matt and I were fishers. I love any costume that involves wearing my boots!!!
Q didn't nap and she had a busy morning, so she was a little zoned at the party. I think she was also a little freaked by all the people in costumes. We didn't really talk to her in advance to tell her everyone would be dressing up. I figured she'd know since SHE was going to be dressed up. Sometimes we forget she's only 3. :)
Q got her face painted for the second time today. She is LOVING face painting! Especially since one of her favorite big girls from church was the painter!
She also loved the pony ride!She ditched the accessories of her costume piece by piece. By the end of the night there was no evidence she had ever been a cute little lobster!
My favorite part was the petting zoo. I fell in love with the cutest donkey ever there. You should have heard it braying. Oh. My. Goodness. And there were sweet goats, a couple goats that were a little feisty, some piglets, the softest calf in the world....I definitely need a farm.
PS) Thanks, Nik, for the costume inspiration! Even across the miles you're still rockin' Halloween for me! :) Remember our Greek goddess costumes?!!

Big sister

Quinn is the BEST big sister. Whenever Beck cries she runs to get a paci and then shushes and sings Jesus Loves Me softly to him. She helps change his diapers and shows him books and even dances for him! We saw this sweet moment in the car a couple weeks ago.

Every fall Q enjoys some sensory play with corn! I love it too, because it seems so "fallish." Fall is totally my favorite season~!

Her swimming suit literally pulled apart on this last venture to the lake! It's swam a good, long life, this ole blue suit!

Q was really excited Kai is old enough to walk and play now on campouts cause she's been alone all these years. They had LOTS of fun playing together. He let Q lead him all around by the hand and they were really good about sharing shovels and buckets when they played in the dirt. Good thing, cause they have a lot of campouts ahead to be pals!

New way to ride.

I took this pic on my phone (new phone!! My blackberry finally bit the dust. boo) Thursday as Beck and I made a quick trip to HEB to buy veggies for turkey noodle soup. We had just finished a walk in the nature preserve with him wrapped up facing me and we were both really sweaty and he was very awake, so we decided to try an outward facing ride in the Moby. He LOVED it! He was so wide eyed the entire time and soaked everything in, and he stayed really secure against me now that he has a little more head control. I did get tons of strange looks and even a few comments from other shoppers, though. One old lady was sure he was too small to be carried in a wrap. :)

Face Painting and Fall Festival

Q spent the night with Mimi and Papa last night. I had a date night with my boys. :) We enjoyed a long, relaxing dinner at Black Walnut and then dessert (and nachos, if I am being honest....) at Chili's afterwards. We had some giftcards to use up and it was great! We loved getting to dote over Beck's every grin and gurgle and focus all our attention on him for a bit. Then we watched a movie on the couch, stayed up really late, slept in late, went out for breakfast, and picked up Quinn. She went to a fall festival at Mimi's church, where she got her face painted, talked Mimi into buying me the world's coolest felted pumpkin (I am a sucker for all things felted. LOVE it!) and painted a pumpkin, among other fun things. Here she is with her cat face!

Last Friday I noticed Beck really grunting while he was laying on the floor. I glanced over and he'd rolled onto his side! Yesterday morning I took pictures of him trying to roll over some more. He could get all the way onto his side. Then he'd get really upset because he was stuck. I helped him the rest of the way over for a few minutes of tummy time.

All tired out after all that work!!
