Busy Girl!

Quinn had a busy day today! We had P over this morning to hang out for a bit. After that, we went to lunch with some of Mommy's work friends. Then we went and spent some time with Aunt Meg and Blaine, followed up by dinner with Mommy and Daddy's friends at a yummy mexican food restaurant. Last night Quinn slept 6 hours straight....fingers are crossed it reoccurs tonight!!!

Visiting GrandBob and GranSue

Tonight Matt had to work late and I was going to a dinner, so Quinn visited GrandBob and GranSue! I hear they read lots of books and Quinn was checking out GrandBob's in-progress tile job when I got there. They must have played hard, because she was sound asleep by the time we got home!! Quinn was very upset when we tried to feed her cereal tonight, so Matt put her in the sink and fed her during her bath. She loved it!! Good thinking, Daddy! I just hope she doesn't think she always has to eat submerged. :) At least it makes for easy cleanup!

Sittin' Pretty!

Today Mommy sat me up and let me try it on my own. First I fell over onto my feet and sucked on them for a bit. But then I worked really hard and pushed with my arms and pulled with my tummy up into almost sitting!! I stayed that way for a little bit, but it was hard work, so I got tired. Mommy propped me up on my boppy and a puppy and that worked pretty well, too!

Almost asleep....

I love how peaceful and still she gets right before she drifts off. She has a predictible falling-asleep pattern.
1)Scream and fight being swaddled and jerk head around so Mommy and Daddy can't get paci in even though they know you want it. Kick feet and try to bust arms out of swaddle.
2) Relax, suck paci occasionally and stare off into space, feet finally still.
3) Make a few grunts just to let us know you aren't giving in easily.
4) One last sweet-sounding coo.
5) Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Suck. Suck.

Birthday Toes

Quinn and I didn't make it to my Bible study this morning after our crazy night and her still not feeling great this morning. However, after two days cooped up in the house, I had to get out! Plus, it is my birthday, so I had to do something fun to celebrate! I took advantage of Quinn's naptime by putting her to sleep in her carseat and heading to the nail salon to use a gift certificate for a pedicure! Of course Quinn woke up as soon as we walked in, but luckily it was really slow in there, so all of the nail ladies passed her around and she was pleased as punch (that's a Matt phrase, by the way...) I was pretty happy, too! I enjoyed my pedicure in peace. The ladies were speaking vietnamese, but I could tell they were discussing her bald head and how chubby she was. :) An old couple getting their nails done before they left for their vacation in the Carribean (they loudly announced that to everyone) notified me that Quinn's socks were too tight and cutting off her circulation, which was evidenced by the indentions on her legs. Ummm, thanks. Good thing I didn't have a headband on her today, compared to the little impression that leaves in her head, the sock marks are nothing!

Quinn loves Mommy's pretty toes....they look so good she wants to eat em!

Quinn spent the evening with Mimi and Papa John while Matt took me to dinner. I enjoyed my "big people" dinner very much, and when we picked up our girl she was fed, washed, and in her jammies--and best of all--all smiles!! Now we get to do it all again next week for Daddy's birthday...although something tells me his won't involve any nail polish. Quinn will have to eat plain ole toes on that Daddy.

Puppy Love

Quinn definitely knows her puppy now! She loves to watch Alie and even better is when she can grab some fur. Alie is a good sport, but not the biggest fan of the hair-pulling. Today at one point I looked over when they were both one the bed. Quinn had a good grab on Alie's fur, and Alie looked at me like, "Please can I run away from her?" but she was so sweet and just put up with it.

Nineteen Weeks

Quinn is nineteen weeks old today!
She has been suffering with nasty allergies this week....Last night no one got any sleep. She couldn't breathe through her nose because it was too stuffed up, so she was using her mouth, but every few minutes she would try to use her nose and it didn't work and she'd get very upset. She also really wanted her paci, but she couldn't suck on it and breathe at the same time. So Daddy and I took turns holding her in a sitting-up position in the recliner so she could sleep....Daddy was on his A-game and figured out she'd sleep a little bit if we patted her chest, and he sat up with her a good part of the night even though he had to get up early for work this morning.
Quinn is "talking" even more. She is hilarious when she has a conversation with you. She loves when we make funny sounds at her--buuuuh buuuh buuuuuh bye makes her laugh hysterically! We can get her to belly laugh really hard for a long time now. Sunday she was in a giggly mood and I called Oma and Opa and she laughed for them for at least 5 minutes straight!!
She has a new habit of interlocking her fingers from both hands in front of her and getting a very serious look on her face. Whenever she does this Matt says she is hatching a plan. So we call it "hatching" now whenever she does that. (see 3rd picture)
She is getting so good at reaching and holding things. She can grab all her toys above her head on her play gym. She also likes to hold things--today at Target I let her hold the dishbrush refills I was buying and she examined them and crinkled the plastic with glee!
Quinn can now get her feet up to her mouth, which I love!!
Cereal eating is still going great and she is learning more and more how the whole food thing works. I think she is going to be a great eater when I start her on more foods because she always gets so excited to scarf down her cereal. I will think about adding some veggies to her diet in the next week or so.

Singing with Daddy

Matt was watching an old movie--Waiting for Guffman--the other day and it's about a town that puts on a musical. Quinn got so excited every time they sang one of the songs, so Matt decided to show her one of his favorite musicals, Moulin Rouge. She is so hilarious when the songs come on--she yells along with the tv!! He shows it to her just about every day and she always gets so excited. It's pretty cute! (click on the picture to watch the video...you've GOT to have your sound on!)

From Oma's movie

Must be the prune juice....

Quinn prefers her cereal with juice mixed in, and I've been using apple-prune because that's what I have on hand. I've washed her play mat two days in a row....I'm thinking she might not need so much prune juice!!

Poor baby....

Looks like Quinn inherited my yucky allergies...
All three of us woke up yesterday morning all allergic. I think it's cedar season right now that has got us going. Poor Quinn has runny, itchy eyes, a runny nose, sneezing, and her sinuses are all clogged up, so her breathing sounds horrible. I imagine her throat is itchy, too, because both Matt's and mine are. She had a hard night last night and was up and down constantly all night. Matt finally propped her up in our bed on some pillows so she could breathe. She was fussy today, too, and didn't want to eat much and insisted I hold her. I had a mega sinus headache, so I didn't mind staying in my pj's and cuddling my baby. Hopefully this doesn't last long, though....

Chillin' with Papa John

Friday night Matt and I had a date night. We went to dinner and a movie while Quinn played with Papa and Mimi. Papa John fed Quinn her cereal which they say she gobbled right up. We stayed the night with them on Friday night because Matt had to get up early and start building their fence. That gave Quinn plenty of time for horsey rides with Papa John and even a few Cougar cheers.....

Oldie but goodie....

Here's a picture my dad just sent me....My mom was buying shampoo at a hair salon, and Opa found they even had a product perfect for Quinn. It's called "Polish Up" and we thought it'd be perfect for her little baldy head.

Cereal update....

Tonight I mixed apple/prune juice in with the cereal instead of milk and Quinn loved it! I also made it a little thicker. It's kinda difficult feeding a baby that doesn't know how to eat--she keeps pushing the food back out with her tongue! She eventually kinda got the hang of it and started getting aggressive because I wasn't getting the food to her fast enough. She ate the little serving I made her, so I made up a bit more, which she quickly polished off. I think she would have had another helping, but I thought she'd had enough for tonight. Of course we had to follow the cereal up with a bath!!

Today we had a friend over. Quinn watched a few minutes of Sesame Street with her, an enthralled look on her face the whole time! We followed that up with a walk to the park. It was a bluebird day (no clouds) and warm, so we couldn't resist!!
