Her throne.....

We fit a bit of time into our busy weekend to prepare the princess's throne...We got Matt's old highchair down from his dad's attic....stripped some of the gummy finish off, sanded it down, primed it, and painted it black! It turned out looking quite fine, and Quinn loves it! We let her check it out last night and she ate dinner in it at the table with us tonight. I love that it's small and fits perfectly in our kitchen! Now she can practice feeding herself fingerfoods. It is so interesting to watch a 6 month-old eat O's....you can literally see them learning as they figure out how to do it!

I love this one!

Here's a picture from my archives that I love and just have to share...It's taken in the mirror at our hotel in New Braunfels a few weekends ago on the cycling trip. Matt had just given Quinn a bath in the hotel sink, which she loved, and he was making her smile and laugh by talking to her in the mirror. So sweet, and doesn't she look just like her daddy in this one!!

He loves me....He loves me not...

Well, she doesn't quite get the idea, but ripping the stem off works for her!

I can push myself up...it's just the "go forward" part of crawling I don't quite get....

27 Weeks

I am a little behind posting Quinn's 27-week update....it was a crazy week! Lots going on for Miss Q, though. Her big achievement this past week was that on Friday she stayed in Circle Time in her class for the whole 15 minutes! Apparently she usually doesn't make it that long and loses focus and has to have a change in scenery, but Friday she did it!
Her favorite toys these days are any necklaces (she gets aggressive if you are wearing one, believe me!!), my purse, and hairbrushes. She will play with all three of these items for the longest time! She loves it when I put my purse in her carseat and let her hold it for me. I let her carry it in the car on our way home from school in the evenings.
Quinn has a new habit of wrinkling up her mouth and scrunching her nose and then breathing in and out really fast like she's panting. I will have to get it on video because it's hilarious. I don't know why she does it, but it always makes everyone laugh. She has also learned to smack her lips when she is hungry and while she eats.
Today in church she proved that she has figured out how to drop her toys on the floor. The poor girl sitting next to us must have picked her bee teether up five times before I tied her black necklace onto it so it couldn't fall to the floor.
Quinn is really starting to get into things....anything within her reach and she has learned to crawl backwards (not forwards yet), so her reach is getting increasingly larger. She gets frustrated because she wants to go forward, but when she tries she goes backwards.
She can now sit and do just about everything...eat, talk, play, watch the doggy, and rarely falls over.
She is starting to notice when I leave her places or leave the room and is showing some seperation anxiety, which I don't love, but is of course a developmental thing....She also keeps her eyes on her daddy when he's home with her.
Oh yeah, Quinn is sitting with me as I type this and just reminded me that the computer is another of her favorite toys. She LOVES "typing" and looking at the screen. She can get my computer to do things I wouldn't even know how to do if I tried when she bangs away at it. It's amazing. Well, she is ready for a bath, so that's all for now!

Chelsea's Shower

Saturday was Chelsea's shower!!
We did a Umbrella theme and also included some African elements, as well.
It was lots of fun and Baby K, you got quite the haul!!
Your cousin Quinn was big-eyed looking at all your new toys and she says she will come help you try them all out! You are already loved by so many--look at all the family and friends who gathered to celebrate with your Mommy......

He's ours!!

I am saying ours because I am officially an aunt and Quinn is officially a cousin now!! My sister and David made it through their Ethiopian court proceedings and will travel mid-April to bring K home!! I am psyched because we get to bring them home from the airport and meet him right away! Can't wait to cover those adorable little cheeks with kisses! His was born Sept 16th so he and Quinn are so close in age. Tomorrow is Chelsea's baby shower, so they got the news of their approval is perfect timing! If ya want to know any more of his stats, email me and I would be glad to share...name, etc.

A couple pictures....

Working full time with a baby is...well...a lot of work! :) So I haven't gotten a chance for many photo sessions lately but here are two from the p/s (point and shoot) today just so no one misses seeing this girl's chubby cheeks!
The first one is Quinn chilling in my classroom at school while I clean up from the day. The second one is with Daddy...notice the giant wet spot on his shoulder...Everything, EVEN SHOULDERS...go into Quinn's mouth now!

Here is also a YouTube video of Quinn eating at my work today....she insisted I take a break from cleaning to feed her some green beans! She is sitting up by herself while she eats now, and she also has started making a smacking sound when she is eating. So cute!
