We went for a visit at Papa John's garage today. Quinn was very impressed with all of the tools. Papa John took good care of Momma's car for her and got it all tuned up. Quinn even tried out the "big boss" chair....She might go into accounting...if she inherits her daddy's math skills and not her momma's. :)

Trick or treating
Today we went with the church playgroup to trick-or-treat at an assisted living home. Quinn went as a little kangaroo. I made her some ears and a tail and sewed them on a little fleece sweatsuit. She was adorable, if I do say so myself! Of course she didn't trick or treat, she mostly hung out with our children's minister, Dustin, who held her so I could snap some pictures. I love taking pictures of kiddos, and when they are in costume they are even cuter!! After the trick-or-treating we took advantage of the gorgeous fall day and took all the kids to the park nearby. Quinn snoozed in her stroller and I had fun playing with a bunch of 1-3 year-olds. Quinn loved getting pushed around in her stroller by her pal Alivia!

The older woman....
Yeaaaa! You are now older than someone, Quinn!! Brycen was born today. Your daddies are buddies, and now you will have a friend just about your age...well, exactly seven weeks younger. :)
We went to the hospital to meet the little man today. He is so cute and tiny, and I couldn't believe you were once that little. He actually weighs a pound more than you did, but he still felt sooo small! Here you are checking Brycen out. I think you liked him because you smiled the whole time.
You were jealous of all that hair!!
Daddy shared his "burrito baby" wrapping skills with Steve and Ashley. It was so fun to see this new little one and remember when Quinn was that tiny! It really made me realize how much she has already grown!!

Seven Weeks
You are seven weeks now, Quinn! The big change this week is that you have decided you need to see EVERYTHING. You don't tolerate being rear-facing in the frontpack as well anymore. I was doing some housework Monday and let you face out (even though you are still too small) and just kept a hold on you and you LOVED it! Today at Walmart I put you in the grey side sling and you had to be sitting up so you could peek out. No more tiny baby cuddled down inside. :) If I set you in one place too long and you have gotten everything looked over, you fuss and want some new scenery. You will now smile at us most of the time and even laugh some! Last night your daddy was wiggling your monkey and you were cracking up like crazy, until I got the video camera out, of course!
When we put hats on you now and put you in the carseat they always wiggle down over your eyes. We can tell when this happens because you start wailing. You are really holding your head up pretty much 100% of the time and you like me to stand you up on my lap facing me so we can have a conversation. You smile the whole time--it's so cute!! You now have a little personality and are lots of fun to interact with.
You still have to be swaddled mega-tight and have been busting out of all your swaddle wraps because they are getting too small. We bought a bigger one tonight to try out.
Whenever I kiss you on your cheek you always turn your face and put your mouth on me. I am going to believe you're kissing me back, even though I am sure it's probably your rooting reflex. :) You are a sweet baby girl and we have fun seeing you do something new every day!

My fave from this week.....
I love this shot!! Quinn has really been looking at people and things this week...but sometimes she just stares off, and there really isn't anything where she's looking. It's pretty funny!!! I am sure she's contemplating quantum physics or something ultra-intelligent when she seems to be spaced out. ;)

Monkey...continued....
Quinn has a little stuffed monkey that sits above her changing pad. Lately every time I change her she looks up at the monkey and smiles and giggles. It is so cute!! Every time she looks at it like she's never seen it before...so I guess she forgets about the last time she smiled at that little guy. :)

First tub time!
After a weekend spent out-of-doors, I didn't think a sponge bath would be good enough for this little one...so tonight she had her first bath in the tub with momma. I soaked her and soaped her up. She was a little wide-eyed, but she didn't fuss once and I even got a few smiles. She was a slippery baby when wet, so daddy came and dried her off and got her dressed while I finished my bath so that I wouldn't have to try to hold onto her while scrubbing my filthy toes (flip flops at the airshow...) Now we are oh-so-clean girlies!!!

Wings Over Houston Airshow
Today we took Quinn to her first airshow!! Matt is a closet aircraft fanatic, and he awes me every year at the airshow with all of his knowledge of the different aircraft. I know he's disappointed that I don't appreciate the biplane that can do 6.5 -g's (whatever that means) or had 400 hp. :( Not many babies have had a diaper change on a tarmac!
It was sunny, so we had to wear our hats! Matt put earplugs in Q's ears, but they wouldn't stay in...So he covered her ears during the loud parts of the Thunderbirds show. What a sweet daddy!
Here's Matt and Quinn by my favorite...the warthog.
My Sweeties by the F-16.
All tired out from the show....

Farmer's Market Saturday
Quinn had her first sleepover last night!! Matt's mom came and picked her up to watch her for a few hours as Matt and I were tired out from several crazy weeks/weekends and lots of fussy-baby nights....well, Gran never called us to come get her and we didn't either, so it turned into all night. We were in bed lazily watching tv in our pj's, so we enjoyed a bit of extra sleep. We got up early (for a Saturday, at least) to meet Gran and Papa John at their church's fall market to pick up Quinn. We had missed her and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her! We also did a little bit of shopping at the market. We then headed downtown to the Bayou Bend Farmer's Market, where Matt's dad's band was playing.
We enjoyed the tunes in perfect weather and shopped the market, which was a little funny to me...it was a bit on the yuppie side and kinda high-priced, so we didn't purchase any produce, but did get a couple of gifts for a certain friend of mine who is having a bday at the beginning of Nov. From there we made a stop to pick up Matt's triathlon packet in anticipation for his race tomorrow, then we stopped by the farmer's market on Airline/610 for a pumpkin. We ended up with a 25lb-er, some toasted pumpkin seeds, a bag of grapefruit and an acorn squash.
Then we went back to the wholesalers and bought Matt a box of apples, which he carried to the car in style. We had a great day enjoying the sunshine and some of my favorite fall activities!!

Way to go, Daddy!
I couldn't find Matt and Quinn tonight, even though I looked all over the house. I finally went into the kitchen and there they were, perched in front of the dishwasher. Apparently the noise and vibration of it put Q right to sleep. So far it's been the smoothest bedtime routine we've had in ages...she's usually pretty tricky to put down for the night. Matt even went as far as to try to put her down in her own crib in her room, instead of the pack and play in our room. So far so good, but it's only 10:30, so we're not going to get too excited. The bad thing is that we only make enough dirty dishes to run the dishwasher every 3-4 nights....hmmmm, we may start having 8-course meals!!
