So proud
Mastered this one all by herself, finally! Now she's a whiz at it! She is so proud to show me how quickly she can put it together. :)

Things I love about you:
-the way you say "Mawmaw," rare as it is, since you usually call me "Daic."
-those few moments when you're "milky" and let me hold and snuggle you a brief second
-when I've been away from you and you tell me you've missed me
-when I've been away from you and you come running into my arms
-your hugs
-the way you look when you're asleep
-the last little bit of "baby chub" you still have in your cheeks
-when you ask me to carry you downstairs
-how happy you are when you get up in the morning
-when you hold my hand while we're walking
-working in the garden with you--planting seeds together
-when you climb into my lap to listen to a book

Sharing our news with Oma and Opa
Q's first Christmas we were doing some shopping at Academy and my dad had "baby duty" to entertain Q while we shopped. He apparently found she liked a squeaky dog toy there, and it ended up coming home with us. She loved to drive us crazy with that thing in the car, so the next year it mysteriously ended up going home with Oma and Opa in their luggage. So that started a tradition of Oma and Opa taking pictures of "Chicken's Adventures in Wyoming" and sending them occasionally to Q to keep in a little photo album Oma made her. Q loves her books and can tell you about all the pictures. So to tell my parents about Bacon Bit, we made them this little card to send their way. :)

More Quinnisms
She is full of these daily....it's hard for me to remember to write them all down, but I know they won't be around forever, so we try to remember as many as we can!
She has a little stool she uses in the bathroom to get up to her potty (which she doesn't even need cause she climbs up like a monkey without using it.) She loves dragging it down to our bathroom and using it to climb up on the counter, sit on the counter, put Daddy's toothpaste on his brush, then suck it off. Her stool is annoying because it is in the way for the rest of the day (of course she doesn't put it away when she's finished...) so Daddy told her that stool has to stay in HER bathroom.
Q: "When Daddy's not here I can get my stool out," (as she's hauling it into our bathroom).
She also wants to stand up on the edge of the bathtub when she is getting out of the bath. With wet feet. Daddy nixes that one too. One night this week I was bathing her. As she was getting out she stands up on the edge and announces:
"When Daddy's not here I can stand up here!"
Little stinker...apparently when Daddy's not home the rules aren't in effect.....
Last night:
Q: "I want to go to my Dad's house."
Me: "This is your dad's house."
Q: "This is MOMMY's house. I want to go to my dad's house."
Me: "You're here already."
Q: "No, my dad's house. And see Grandsue."
Ahhhh....Matt always says, "I'm going to my dad's house," so Q thinks she can say that, too.
Q's favorite thing to do at Grandsue's is put diapers on the cabbage patch doll, then take them off, then use the wipes to clean the baby's "poop" then change the diaper again and again. Grandbob put one of the diapers on his head.
Q: "That's not for you" jerking it away....
Me: "What if Grandbob needs a diaper?"
Q: "Grandbob, you wear big boy panties."
Friday night we were walking into Smashburger for dinner and Q was having a debate with Matt whether a certain truck they saw was a diesel or a gasoline. Rather loudly, of course, which is the only way she talks. She attracted quite a few stares from the people eating outside...Guess a 2 year old who can debate the engine of a truck is a little startling....
She saw some pictures of her cousin sitting in a firetruck and she informed me that "K likes to sit in that diesel."
We were working in the garden last week and I gave Q a radish I'd dug up to taste.
Q: "It's too spicy. Mom, you just eat the 'adishes' and I'll eat the parsleys, okay?"
(she loves eating raw parsley...)

Quinnisms
Tonight we dropped Matt off at Starbucks for his Bible Study Group. Before he got out of the truck Quinn said, "Daddy, be a good boy at Staaaabucks." Daddy said he'd try his best. :)
Quinn is obsessed with diesels. She looks for them the entire time she's on the road. She knows "Big trucks are diesels, tractors are diesels, school buses are diesels, and metros are diesels. Some Ditch Witches ARE diesels, and some aren't, and diesels are noisy and smell stinky." Believe me, she can give you her whole spiel. Today when we were driving into the neighborhood we passed the street sweeper and Q asked if it was a diesel. I said it was. She clapped her hands and said, "Good job, Mommy. Good job using your memory."
Today we planted some sugar snap pea seeds and pumpkin seeds in the garden. Q was totally into it! I made a little depression in the dirt where each seed should be placed and she put one seed in each spot. So....tonight when I was getting her dressed for bed she yelled out, "I'm going to take a little pumpkin seed and put it up my bottom!" Such a lovely image.
Quinn has now become obsessed with pretending that Pink Baby is going to a wedding. Every wedding Pink Baby goes to, unfortunately, she poops in her panties and has to wear yucky panties. And Pink Baby sometimes doesn't take a nap, so then Q tells me that she's "fustated Pink Baby won't go to sleep." Hmmmm, I seem to know exactly how she feels. :)
Q's favorite words to sprinkle into every conversation are "sooooo" and "ACTUALLY."
Today in the car I was driving peacefully along when all the sudden Q climbs up into the front seat. WHILE I'M DRIVING. She had unbuckled her carseat and let herself out, little turd. Then she proceeded to tell me, "Papa lets me take my buckles off." For the record, Papa confirmed that was not accurate, and Q and I (and later Daddy) had to have a very stern discussion about staying in our seatbelts.

A belated Valentine....and some good news!
We were waiting until tonight when we saw Aunt Meg to fill her in on our news, and now that she knows, we can finally show our Valentine to the world! Yeaaa for no more keeping it quiet!
Our little "bacon bit" (Matt used that nickname one night, and silly as it is, it has seemed to stick....) is due to arrive August 1st....We've decided not to find out the gender this time around for a little added excitement!
We just started talking to Q this week about being a big sister and Baby Bacon Bit....she doesn't grasp much of it yet, but she has already decided that Bacon Bit needs a Lobster hooded towel when we saw one at Target so BB can be a "obster foggy baby!" (lobster froggy baby--we call her Froggy Baby when we wrap her in her frog towel after bathtime.) So sometime down the road we may have to get a lobster hoodie towel...cause who can resist a lobster froggy baby???!!
So The Bean blog will be expanding just like our little family! I'll definitely be posting lots of updates on here! More to come!

Tattletale
A couple weeks ago we went with our playgroup to Chick-fil-a after passing out Valentines since it was nasty cold outside. Q was playing in the play area and came out, very eager to tell me something. "Thomit was playing in there and he is SPITTING on the floor," she announced loudly, and went on and on about how, where, and when "Thomit" spat. I advised her to tell him she didn't like that and it was gross if he did it again, and she went back into the playland. A few minutes later a little boy came out and I heard a mommy say, "THOMAS! ARE YOU SPITTING?" Oops, Q had narked him out and apparently his Mommy had heard every word.
She loves to recount the story. We try to convince her his name is THOMAS, but she argues that it's THOMIT.

Singing ABC's
Quinn loves her cd's. Here she is singing ABC's along with the cd. Then we played her favorite song on the cd--"Where do you start your letters?" but she got too distracted to sing. Sorry it was kinda dark cause I was videoing with my phone, but you can hear, and that's the important part. :)
She gets very upset when she knows we are going to be driving the car somewhere because she knows her cd stays in the truck. The second we get in she starts asking for "MY MUMIC!!!"

Quinnism
A few weeks ago for Matt's birthday we went out to eat with several friends. The guys left from dinner to go to a movie--Sanctum in 3D.
Q- "Where'd Daddy go?"
Me- "To the movies."
Q- "Is it Happy Feet? (the one movie she knows about)"
Me- "No, it's a nasty scary movie."
Ummm, wrong answer by me. Q started randomly telling people this weekend that her daddy watches nasty movies. Oops!

Goin' to the chapel....
And here's photo evidence of the only few minutes Q would let Megan touch her the entire night. Meg tried to hold Q during the reception or dance with her, and Q would have none of that. She was definitely Miss Independence, dancing with her friend!
(of course you can get clicky for the large versions....)
Quinn did recover from taking off her headpiece and throwing it in time for the wedding. She walked down the aisle holding hands with Mickayla. They forgot to throw flowers, so at the end of the aisle they just dumped the basket, in true flowergirl form. Q sat in the first row with Mimi. When the bride and groom lit the unity candle, Q sang "Happy Birthday," and after the prayer she gave a loud "amen." Other than that she sat pretty well.
She was a turd for the pictures. She tried to run away from the pictures she was supposed to be in and run INTO the pictures she wasn't supposed to be in.
We had to spend the time during speeches outside because she wouldn't be quiet. So we sat on the hearth of the huge fireplace to stay warm and she watched one of the employees put the chairs up and sweep the rose petals (which was very disturbing to her....).
However, she's 2 and we really thought she weather'd the evening in fine form! No major tantrums, she stayed awake till almost 1 am, we didn't lose her, and she had a blast seeing all her family and dancing with Mickayla, which involved twirling in circles really fast. She'd do it for several minutes, then they'd both be too dizzy. Several times she came and told me she was going to puke and I'd tell her to stop spinning, but she just couldn't resist. :)
She wouldn't dance with anyone except Mickayla and Papa. And she told the entire crowd of wedding guests about how Papa stepped on her (she ran up behind him and he didn't see her), but "that's okay." She was definitely a Papa's girl all night and kept wanting to go to him.

Mike and I-ya were the best Q-watchers, ever. They helped me keep an eye on this partygirl, which, believe me, wasn't an easy thing! Thanks a ton, guys! You totally helped us enjoy the night! And best of all, we didn't lose her this time around (yikes, she got "misplaced" at the reception the week before. Not good.)
The first thing she said to me when we got inside the reception hall was, "Please me take my shoes off, please?" And I was itchin' to get into my flipflops myself, so we made a beeline for a shoe change/removal. I had to SCRUB to get those little feet of hers clean the next morning!

Getting "wedding pretty"
She was pretty set on choosing black polish from the first second I even mentioned she would be getting her toenails painted. I had to do some talking to convince her to go with red. I thought we had at least 11 more years till we got to the black fingernail stage.....

Quinnism
We were painting with Q's new watercolors. She started brushing paint onto her hand.
me: Quinn, don't paint on your fingers.
Q: I'm not painting on fingers. It's my THUMB. (said like I was the dumbest person on the face of the earth)

Picnic Monday and the great duck chase
Unfortunately for the duck, it didn't understand the whole bread-eating concept. Just stared at us like we were crazy for throwing hunks it's way.
