In October we lost our sweet kitty. He'd been ours since we'd adopted him as a rescue cat 13 years earlier, so he was our baby before we had babies. We all had (and always will) a soft spot for that crazy, quirky kitty. He was the best cat ever!

Around Here
Johnny Appleseed Day--peeling and making applesauce--we call the peel "apple licorice" and my kids love it!
Mini golfing at our niece's bday party.
She is into her guitar these days!!
Scenes from school mornings--doing form drawing.
Baking biscuits--we bake at least one day a week, usually more. My new trick is to move our little table from the playroom into the kitchen, because we use our kitchen table for schoolwork and I don't want any baking near our papers and books!!
Keeping entertained during Hurricane Harvey--bobbing for apples!!
Nature day....at Lake Houston.
Playing Chicken's Foot with Mimi
Doing his "thang." His kindergarten year is largely non-academic, so once we finish Godtime (personal Bible study) and Morningtime (literacy circle), he is free to play, play, play. Sometimes he gets really involved and has lost of playing to do. Other days he needs Mama to set him up with something to do or build.
Her rock collection:
I love looking across from the kitchen and seeing her hard at work! We take a nature walk every morning and those yellow flowers were from that. I usually (all of us, actually...) come home with hands full of nature.
Learning how to play Blackjack. Awesome math skills required!!
Practicing sawing....her first Main Lesson was building, so she learned all about hand tools.
She and Daddy are designing and building a chicken coop as her Building Project:
Working on Roman Numerals for math in her Math MLB (main lesson book).Lighting candles--a big deal around here!! With matches, of course!
My car bookworm:
He had started off his morning drawing up a storm!!
On Mondays Beck makes soup. He does the majority of the chopping and preparing!
Holding Misha, our friends' cat who stayed with us during the hurricane. Quinn was in heaven with two new kittens with us for a few days!!

New Braunfels Birthday weekend
As usual, we went to New Braunfels for Quinn's birthday gift. Sunday afternoon we headed out to soak up a bit of nature. Beck's favorite river is the "God-a-loooopeeee" (Guadalupe) (Because of Lyle Lovett's Rivers of Texas song...) and so we went to visit a historic bridge (that turned out to be really neat!) and wade a bit in the Guadalupe for our boy.
Little guy in his Daddy's hat with a giant harpoon Daddy carved him out of some bamboo.
Of course she made a beeline for the water.
Daddy school--a lesson on rivets.
Making harpoons.
