Muriah's Wedding

On Friday afternoon (of our Camp Across Texas roadtrip....) we drove to Fritsch, TX for my cousin Muriah's wedding (North of Amarillo, almost to the Oklahoma line).  Lots of scenery like this:
Some wedding-gift craftiness:
Goin' to the chapel!
I did the majority of my pics on my phone so I could send them to my parents, who weren't able to come to the wedding, so not amazing pics, but they get the job done.  :)

Pre-wedding entertainment:
Quinn was thrilled to see Addy! Addy was the flowergirl and did a great job for a one-year old!

She also loves weddings, so she was all-business watching!

Loved watching my boy sit with my Grandma and eat cake!

After the wedding we met my cousins at Braums, which was conveniently located next to our hotel!
Quinn gives Mitch some snapchat lessons!  Addy tabledances.
 The crew!!!
Mama Bird feeding ice cream to Baby Bird.  Of course Addy loved this and joined in the fun, too.

Did I mention that it took my Mitch and Julie less time to drive to Amarillo area from Wyoming than it did for us to drive across Texas?  That blew my mind a little bit!!  And not just cause Mitch has a heavy foot.  ;)

So good to be together with our family and attend Muriah's wedding!!

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

After leaving Lake Mineral Wells State Park, we drove west across Texas to Palo Duro!  Matt grew up going here as a kid, so it was fun to go back! Look at that little cutie!

Waking up after the giant wind storm, we spent some time collecting our blown belongings and then got down to the business of breakfast.  It was COLD and windy and cloudy that morning.  We bundled up in all the clothes we'd brought!

Our tent survived the storm with only 1 broken pole.  Not bad, considering how crazy it was!

Some turkeys came right through next to our camp.
It was definitely a cocoa kinda day!!

 Followed up by hot tea.....

Just a bit windy out!

Quinn was in love with the tree in our campsite.  It was a wonderful climbing tree!

After packing up we headed out for a hike.  It was such a fun hike!  Beautiful scenery, lots of adventure (we were on the rim of the canyon!!) and it was cool out so there was definitely no sweating!  Beck's face in this picture shows how thrilled he was with the cold wind!!

I don't think I could ever get tired of pictures of my boys soaking in the canyon view.  I love it.

Quinn was excited to discover the rocks could write on one another.  She and Daddy had learned at a science museum about the hardness scale for minerals, so they had a good chat about that.  She also got a geology mini-lesson about different types of rocks and how they are formed.

I just could stare all day at the different colors and shades and tones across the length of a canyon.  This formation is called the Spanish Skirts.

After our hike we loaded up in the car for the drive into Amarillo.  217 and us got to know one another pretty well on this trip!!!
We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Palo Duro.  It is one of the most beautiful, extreme parts of Texas I have seen!  The campsites were great (minus the wind part) and the hiking was great....I would go back in a heartbeat.  There is a hike there I wanted to do--The Lighthouse, but it was waaaaay too far for our little peeps, so guess we'll have to go back in a few years!!!  So thankful I have gotten to see this great state park!
