Quinnisms

Daddy was carrying Beck and Quinn leaving church a couple weeks back.
M: I have to put you down because I am carrying Beck and you guys are heavy.
Q:  Daddy, I know you have carried us both MULTIPLE times.
M: What does "multiple" mean?
Q: (in a voice like Daddy's the dumbest person alive) SEVERAL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning I came into the bathroom and Quinn and Beck were sitting on the floor and she was putting glittery lotion on him.
Q: Mommy, we're having GIRL TIME.
And poor Beck doesn't know better....he's just thrilled to be into his sister's stuff!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple weeks ago late in the evening...Matt had heard Q go to the bathroom and realized after a while he'd never heard her go back to her room.  He goes down and opens the bathroom door to see her with the cat in the sink, a pile of soap on the cat's back (the foamy kind), a shower scrubby in her hand, giving the cat a bath.  The cat bolted, of course, when he spotted the open door.
M: Why are you washing the cat?
Q: WELL, he WAS in my room.
M: Does that mean you should wash him?
Q:WELL......
And a continued series of questions, all of which she answered with "Well...."  So that is now Matt and my running joke to eachother...."Welll....."
And we had to chase down the cat and finish his bath to get all the soap off so he wouldn't lick it up and have bubbles coming out his nose.  He was not thrilled.  Nor were we.

Then a couple days later we were in bed still and she came into our room and grabbed a flashlight.  We didn't think much of this, but when I went to get her up out of her room, she had a giant scratch on her cheek and one millimeters from her eye.  Daddy was NOT amused, knowing what a cat scratch to the eye could do.  Apparently Q had been trying to pull the cat out from under her bed and he was not interested in exiting his safehouse.  So after all the cat "issues" she is grounded for the week from touching the cat.  Which she has lots of complaints about.

More Singing Quinn

Building a cross with Daddy

It has been sitting out front this week and today we brought it to the park for our Good Friday get-together with our friends.  Every time we see purple on a cross this season we remember to say, JESUS IS KING OF KINGS!

Passover Seder

Last night our family participated in a "learning" passover seder together with our church family--on the traditional night that Jesus participated with his disciples--Thursday.

Quinn was ready for bed before we even got to the Seder--which started at 7:30, but she hung in there as long as she could....about 3/4 of the way through before I had to take her to the nursery with the other kids.  She was telling some friends all about it today and knew all the details, so I guess she soaked in plenty in the time she did participate.  :)  We have been talking about so much of this in our home Bible curriculum--both the Israelites and Passover, and then the Christian portion--how all of this relates to the sacrifice of the True Lamb.
I had brought my camera because I knew this was a "big thing" that I would want to document in our family's life.  I had to set my camera to quiet shutter since it was a silent room and deal with very low lighting and no flash....but I got a few photos that will remind us of the night we learned about the Seder.  Such a powerful symbolic meal and a tradition I would love to keep alive in my family throughout the years.

Here she is washing her hands with Daddy.

And dipping the Karpas in saltwater to remember the tears of the Jewish slaves as they cried out to God for deliverance.  Interestingly Quinn has this gross habit lately of sticking her finger in her tears and then licking it whenever she cries....so she related immediately to the saltwater taste and tears.

The Maror (to represent the bitterness of slavery) and the Charoset (to represent the mortar of the Israelites) and the Matzah bread (unleavened).

Daddy helping Quinn dip her matzah first in the Maror and then the Charoset as part of the ceremony.

I would totally recommend participating in a Seder dinner if you never have.  I will never read through the passover story or any reference to passover the same again, including the night Jesus took passovr with his disciples.  After the Seder we took communion together with our church family and thought of the implications of Jesus' body and blood, which he introduced during that famous passover meal.

I loved sharing this hands-on, tactile experience with Quinn.  It went a little slower than ideal for her (with lots of explanation for the adults) but she still learned so much--and us, too!

Here is some info on the Seder, if you are curious.  :)

Little Bunny Hop

The singing swinger.
Little bunny Hop goes through the clover top, looking for a breakfast in the morning.  Nibbly, Nibbly, Nibbly!

Some more outside

Notice Beck "anging":

And this is typical Quinn (imagine me saying that in the "Typical Peg" Saturday night life skit voice, okay?)--barefoot, hair flying, and jumping off something she just climbed onto.  With the dog close at hand.

And Little Man doing the balance beam.  Close up, because I am holding his hand AND taking a picture.

Cooking something.  Vegetable soup is her dish of choice right now.  She raids my garden and chops up carrots, parsley, cabbage, lettuce, etc.

He also loves climbing.

The Pollen clean-up crew

Friday afternoon we had the back door open and tons of pollen blew in.  I started cleaning it up and these two joined in to help.  They actually got most of it cleaned up themselves while I was taking pictures!

Both of my kids love the little broom and vacuum and are very interested in using them.
The "busy-ness blur" in these photos does a perfect job of illustrating life around here these days.  Busy and always moving!

Dive! Dive! Dive!

Tuck!  Tuck!  Dive!  Dive!
That's what he yells the second he sees the truck.  He LOVES sitting in the driver's seat and pretending to drive.  Except that he knows how to turn the ignition on and tries to put it in gear.  No messing around for this guy....

school

Today Q's class painted eggs.  They painted blown eggs so they could be saved and last longer.

Quinn was very into painting her eggs.

Notice the nice cat scratches on her cheek.  She's grounded from touching the cat this week due to some of her cat-centered shenanigans.  More details later.  ;)

And Beck wanted to paint, so Ms. Kelsey let him paint one.  Instead he dumped paint all over both of them.

We went into the parent-child classroom to take some pictures for the school website, and Beck couldn't help joining in for hand-washing time.

Q and her friend hiding on behind the bushes.

SuperDaddy.

Outside.

Gots-us-some bluebonnets!

They are stubborn ones, refuse to come up where I seed them.  Instead sprout up in the middle of my vegetable garden.  Oh well, can't cry over volunteer bluebonnets, right?
