Quinn teaches Daddy in class

Quinn writing

Quinn can write 4 letters: Q, O

this week she added P:

And today she learned how to write B:

She is so proud of herself for being able to write letters!!

Our little preacher

Whenever Quinn does "class" with her babies in her playroom she puts on her "fire and brimstone" voice and does some hardcore preaching. She stands in front of her chalkboard and says something to the effect of "God is the whole God, a muscle (or mister...or master...we're not quite sure) God, who made the wholllllllle thing..." and she says "God" so funny! It's hilarious to hear her teachin' and preachin' to those babies....we've been trying to get her to do it on video, but of course she won't do it as good when we want her to. Here's the best rendition we've been able to get, and it's not near as funny as when she doesn't know we're watching. :)

Three week comparison

Here's both kiddos at three weeks. Not sure why Q is so red in that photo, but she did scream every diaper change, so maybe she'd just finished a tantrum. :)

First Day of Preschool

Today was Q's first day back at Preschool. She's in the two's class and we had an exciting surprise--her teacher from Younger Two's moved up and is the Older Two's teacher this year! Quinn LOVES Ms. Holly, so we were excited about that! She had a good first day of school, except for the note in her backpack that said she was disruptive during rest time (big surprise), and she was exhausted when she got home and even took a nap! Doesn't she look so big in her backpack?? I took these AFTER school today (definitely didn't have my act together enough to do it before school) so she was a little zoned. :)

Quinn painted my toenails today. And hers, too. Twice.

She is ALL ABOUT painting nails. She has a little tiny bottle she uses and she has to sit in the bathtub (dry) so no polish gets anywhere it shouldn't. She painted hers in the morning and again after dinner yesterday. :)

3 weeks of Beck

Little Man is 3 weeks old!
Here are some facts about Beck....

-he's definitely a boy when it comes to bodily functions. He doesn't burp--he BELCHES and his toots could rival Daddy's in loudness.

-does not really care for a paci unless you want to hold it in his mouth for him, cause he spits it out every 5 seconds.

-likes his swing

-still wearing newborn diapers (though we don't have to cross the tapes anymore) and newborn clothes. Way too small for his cloth diapers still.

-sleeps in his cradle in our room at night. Usually stays in bed with Momma after Daddy leaves for work for an extra bit of shut-eye.

-likes to go on walks in the sling or wrap with Momma

-typically has two longer awake periods each day--one in the morning and one in the evening.

-is making more eye contact with us

-is looking at objects more--he was watching his mobile in the playroom very intently today

-turns his head to Mommy and Daddy's voices

-DOES NOT like having a poopy diaper and gets really upset to let us know

-rarely spits up (though he spit up all over Daddy this morning in bed as a nice wake up greeting for Daddy)

-nicknames: Poop Machine, Little Buddy, Bakey, Bacon, Bake.

-is a gassy little guy--especially late at night and first thing in the morning

-grunts whenever he isn't happy--if you bother him and he doesn't like it, he grunts at you. When he's gassy he grunts non-stop in his cradle.

-sleeps swaddled but gets really sweaty in the night so we have been foregoing the jammies and just swaddling him in his diaper

-would love to be a snacker, but Momma tries her best to keep that from happening....We had him on the clock with his eating this weekend, otherwise he'd love to eat every hour or so and Momma's just not having that.

Beck and Daddy

Daddy and Beck were good sports and let me snap away at a little photo session while they cuddled. I think Beck looks a lot like his Daddy, even though no one else really does...They also have the same "serious" look. Lovin' these shots of my two favorite boys!

comparison

He's a little bit older than she when the picture was taken.....I tried to get him to take the same paci as she had in the pic, but no go. He's not a paci boy so far.

Beck's first bottle

Last night was my first time away from Beck--I had a photo shoot, so Daddy held down the fort. We thawed some milk in case Daddy needed to give a bottle, so when I got home we went ahead and used it to give him his first bottle. He did great!

Wolf and Fox song

Quinn is all about making up her own songs these days. If we ask her to sing a certain song she says, "No, I am going to sing a NEW one." Then she makes up a random song, sometimes to the tune of another song or sometimes even the tune is new! :) It's ALWAYS at a very loud volume, though.
Here's today's song....based on her current obsession....

My chunky monkey

Yesterday Beck and I had an appt with our midwives--me for my two week postpartum check and he for a hearing screening, general check and circumcision check . We both got good reports. He passed his hearing test, his boy parts are all healed so no more guaze and HE WEIGHS 7 lbs 10 oz. That means he gained 10 oz since last week!

Quinn told the midwife that his name is "Poop Machine." We do sometimes call him that....guess she is taking us seriously. She also made herself quite at home going in other exam rooms to say hello, going back to see the receptionist...she LOvES going to my midwife visit....looks forward to it all day when she knows we're going. She has started pretending to be a nurse a lot lately...She has a teeny stethescope and syringe that is part of a little petshop set my sister gave her and Q likes to give her babies shots and listen to their hearts and check their blood (which she learned from watching Bakey's heel prick for pku. She does make a cute little nurse, if I do say so myself :)

My Two.

My two little loves....good thing he's a boy and probably won't mind some rough cuddles. Matt's trying to teach Quinn the meaning of the word "delicate" but it isn't so much sinking in. But she does love her brother...sometimes. :)

And a couple of just my big girl! Matt and I comment at least once a day about how huge she seems now! Her legs are sooo long and she looks gigantic sleeping in her bed after you finish dressing a little newborn! :)

And of course "decorating her eyes."
