We asked Q what she wanted to be for Halloween and she said, "A moosky and a frog." I decided a moose costume would be much easier, so the frog will have to wait for next year! She makes a cute little moose, if I do say so myself!

Wings Over Houston 2010
Quinn attended her THIRD airshow last weekend! (Her first was at the ripe ole age of a month and a half!!) This year she was totally psyched for it. We prepared her well in advance that the airplanes would be loud, and she would tell us they "MIGHT scare you." We also spent a little of her birthday money to buy her some planes and a helicopter so she could learn about them a little bit before the airshow. She liked the airplanes, but she kept telling us she "only, only, only (she likes to emphasize the word "only") see ai-panes, no hewacoptos, hewacoptos are BAD." She changed her mind when we got to the airshow, though, and was really interested in the helicopters, too. :)
Daddy tried putting in some earplugs...you can guess how well that went.

So she just plugged her ears during the loud parts.
And she did great and never got too scared, even though she DID keep a tight hold on Daddy. :)Her favorite part was the smoke. She kept asking to see more smoke, and still talks about the "ai-show wif da smoke!"

Q's favorite toy airplane is her A-10 Warthog. Here we are standing by the lifesize version.
And our baby girl cuts teeth on airplanes, she's so tough! :)Matt's Dad and Randy came along, too! Quinn now calls Randy "Grandpa" when she talks about him.

Party girl....

She loves to wear these purple shoes cause she can put them on all by herself. Not always on the right foot, but that's a minor detail.

Our First Fall Festival of the year....
Tonight we met some friends at a Community Fall Festival at the college where I taught before Q was born (North Harris). Quinn didn't get a nap today because we had a bit of a crazy schedule at school, so she of course fell asleep in the car 5 minutes before I arrived at the college to meet Matt. We let her sleep for a while and then lured her awake with a hot dog and some cotton candy.
A random girl at a booth took this not-so-great photo for us, but at least we can document the event with all 3 of us together in a pic! We'll have to do some modifications on Q's antlers because they kept flopping over all night. And everyone called her a boy. We haven't had that happen in quite a while.

Daddy helped Q do all the booths. Here they are fishing. It was a HUGE and GREAT fall festival--about 30 different booths, I would guess. Q totally got into the hang of the booth/candy as a prize thing by the end of the night. I think we might have to make this one a tradition!

But her favorite thing was a college kid running one of the booths dressed up in a monkey suit....she talked about that monkey all night....gave him at least 3 high-fives, and kept asking to go see him. On the way home she talked about where he lives and what he eats (the monkey...I don't think she understood it was just someone dressed up). So of course we had to get a photo with him.
We do the fall festival thing again tomorrow night, so by then she'll be a seasoned pro!Posted by DL at 10:20 PM 0 comments

Our Little Pumpkin in the Pumpkins.....
On Friday after school Quinn and I headed over to a neighborhood nursery that has a great little pumpkin patch. We tried to find a time Daddy could go with us, too, but he had a busy week and didn't get home with enough light to spare....
There are lots of great pumpkin patches all around our area that are more large-scale, but for one more year we decided that this little patch was more of a fit for her. We had the whole place to ourselves, Q could run and climb and hold pumpkins to her heart's content. It is basically just a fenced area filled with hay-covered pallets of pumpkins in all sizes! Perfect for a 2 year old! Best of all, I didn't have to brave the madness of the busy weekend crowds at the bigger places, AND this was free! So until Q is a bit older, this was perfect!
She chose a little pie pumpkin to take home (because she could carry it herself). We also bought some little ears of dried corn (which she was more excited about than the pumpkin) and several tiny ornamental pumpkins that are orange and white striped that we are gonna take to school this next week for our pumpkin unit. Oh and a HUGE dried goard (for me)...it's really not that huge, but every time Q sees it that's what she says. :)
We hope to take Daddy back one more time before Halloween comes.....

Scor-pe-pions....and some letters.
Quinn is loving her bugs right now (plastic ones). She wants us to tell her the name of each one, and she has a bug book that she likes to find the page that matches each one.
Right now the scor-pe-pions are her favorite. :)
Here she is with her scor-pe-pions in the bath.

Quinn's book time
Quinn has two favorite books right now--
Get To Work Trucks and 1, 2, Buckle My Shoe.
She is so predictable--every night when she reads the books she does/says the same things.
-tells Daddy to fix the pages somebody (not her, this time) tore
-says that one of the pages that has some cable at the top of one of the trucks is a spider
-calls the 4 "Alie's letter" and the 8 "Beauxy"
-counts 1, 2, 5
Here is a video of her reading with Daddy:

One clean little girl....
So on Sunday Matt puts Q down for a nap. Unfortunately he didn't check to be sure her closet door was latched. She let herself in, climbed the shelves to where there was a basket of diaper cream, powder, baby lotion, and hand sanitizer. She apparently gave her hair a nice wash with it before falling asleep on the floor. We were a little impressed she got the whole basket down without spilling any of the contents, though. Her room STILL smells like Germ-X.
