Around here

Post-hike happy doggy....

We had a relaxing Thanksgiving break, which we really needed.  These two give a good indication of life around our place last weekend.  Nice and slow!!  Except we took less naps than these two.

Quinn got a bee sting, along with a handful of fireant bites, and ended up getting cellulitis (most likely in the ant bites), so her hand got terribly swollen for about a week now (much worse than this picture shows) and she got to make a pedi visit and is on strong antibiotics 3X's a day for ten days....
My last Bible study for the year....
And him, on his last day of Bible Study (he goes to the nursery).
I bought two old socket boxes at a garage sale for .25 and Beck claimed them for his "cutting kits."  He hasn't been too into cutting and was pretty terrible at it, so I have been intentional lately about exposing him to cutting activities that would interest him.  He has gotten into it for sure!!
Quinn's microscope is also a big hit.
Grandsue baked him his favorite persimmon cookies, which he had each morning during morningtime (our morning literacy and Bible time).
Great weather for games on the patio!
Making Mimi's bday gift...which he had a hard time handing over.  :)
 Morningtime

Last November....

Cleaning up some files on my computer and found these two gems from our roadtrip to OKC last November!

Washing produce for Mama makes a boy thirsty.

Mornings with my little dragon.

Quinn's Lantern Festival (for her school)

Quinn's class has been working on two lanterns--one made with epsom salt for their class table, and another one from tissue and wooden sticks to carry during the lantern walk.  The lantern walk (Martinmas) was this past Friday night.

Quinn by her class table at the festival
Each class does a table (or tree!) and we had fun going around and looking at everyone's ideas!
My boys, watching a train come by.
Q, on the lantern walk with a friend.
 Enjoying some hot cider!
Listening to the teachers sing....and a potluck of harvest soups!

Around Here

This is actually an old picture from the flooding in May--this was what greeted the kids at Quinn's school when they went back after the days off because of the floods.  The kids couldn't have been more thrilled.  :)
Matt got the kids some geodes to crack when we were at Dinosaur Valley last weekend, and they have been looking forward to cracking them!  Sunday was the day!!

Saturday night we did Torchy's and Subzero with the Merediths!  The three science nerd boys had to examine the sciency stuff.  :)
And apparently they needed to smell the soap at Whole Foods.????
 Drawing chalky supermoons @mamaschool
And catching toads!!
And Morningtime on the patio!

Living the Impact life...poptarts before worship.
He set his rocket tent up in his room and has been sleeping in it every night this week!
This was her Veterans Day outfit she put together last Friday!!

Pioneer Day....yea for Daddy!

Saturday I had a day of photoshoots, so Daddy was a rockstar and took the kids to Pioneer Day!  This was so perfect because Quinn and I have been reading the Little House on the Prairie books about pioneering, so she got to see many of the things we had been reading about in real life!

Look--we know this guy!  Lovebug's dad was there with the Sons of the Republic.
You know my two loved the petting zoo!

Breaking the kernels off the corn....to make toilet paper.  ;)

Quinn's favorite part was making a cornhusk doll, which she is very proud of!

They got to tour a working pioneer village!

Q also loved tasting youpon tea.  Beck didn't like it.

 Throwing hatchets.

Matt and I used to volunteer at Pioneer Days before we had kiddos, and we worked the rope-making booth with this guy!  We were amazed to see he is still going at it with the ropemaking!!
